On an autumn morning during Zephaniah Zandell's second year at the Alatus Institute, a man named Douglas Solanum has just been inducted as the new Assistant Headmaster. However, Azalea Alatus has her suspicions. After all, she had never met the man before despite being the daughter of the headmaster, and it had been eight years since her father felt inclined to hire a second headmaster. On the other hand, the only thing on Zephaniah's mind is how much more attention Azalea is receiving than him, which is just unacceptable.
