Not dead yet!

...H-hello, everybody. >_> As you can see, I guess I'm still alive, although the comic has apparently been on a bit of a month-long hiatus. ;o I suppose I should've said something over the past four weeks, but I was too ashamed to. XD Long story short (well, it wasn't much of a story, actually), school kept me fairly busy, I was a little burned out from comicing for a brief period, and afterwards when I started working on the comic again I realized that there were more issues throughout that I would like to fully resolve before making any real updates. Sooo while at first there was a week-to-two-week period where I didn't really do much about the comic at all, over the previous two weeks I've been doing quite a bit of work on it, but so far nothing is presentable yet, and while I was trying to have SOMETHING out every week before this hiatus, I've decided that it would benefit myself and the comic in the long run if I just worked at my own pace on this so that I get it right the first time, because heaven knows how prone to revisions I am. 9_9 Quality over quantity, hopefully?

People who commissioned artwork from me over the past three months, I have not forgotten about you, and I've been trying to work on them whenever I have the chance to do so! I'm on Thanksgiving break this week so I've been trying to catch up with all my obligations, so hopefully there will be some positive developments by the end of this week.

So that's that--just giving all of you a heads-up. I have not quit the comic and do not plan on ever doing so. The recent bout of unfinished pages WILL be finished eventually. I SHOULD be able to have a decent update ready for next week. ...and I'm planning to study abroad in Japan next year. >_> WEE BYE HAPPY THANKSGIVING SEE YOU THURSDAY.

Don't push yourself too much! And take your time - the audience is not going to run away, right? ^_^ I love what you're doing so keep it up!

Seriously. We've stuck around this long, right? ^.~

Don't panic, get some sleep, learn some japanese before your trip(!), and just post us a message once in a while so we don't worry too much.

I think I speak for everyone who reads this comic of yours when I say that everyone you produce is well worth the wait. Your artwork is incredible, worthy of more then just an online community- and we are truly grateful for the hard work you do to give us, the faithful readers, something well worth reading. Keep up the good work and don't fret over a hiatus.

I got worried. ;o;

Good to see you're alright. :3 Waiting is fine, quality IS over quantity. I got worried. ;o;

It's a relief to hear that you're still alive and you're doing okay! Your health and well being is more important than a comic. Don't worry about your hiatus if you've seriously been busy, because the truly faithful fan base that you've collected will still follow you through this!

I do have a similar problem. Developing a comic isn't easy with a lack of time and a lack of inspiration and drive. I'm trying to get one ready for January, and it's moving slowly for those aforementioned reasons.

Anyways, just work hard, keep at it, get your school work done, and get back to the comic only when you feel you can do it! We'll still stand beside you!

がんばって、ね。

Just keep going, it doesn't matter how much time you take to draw the comic to your satisfaction as long as you KEEP GOING *cheers*

Yay for hardworking webcomic artists! I agree with everyone else, work at your pace. DoD is your creation and you should wrestle with it how you see fit. And Happy Thanksgiving!!

You know we all love you, Hans. School is important, and none of us are going to begrudge you that.

You shouldn't feel ashamed. Please, even if you don't have anything to update, at least give us a little blurb on Thursdays so we don't start worrying about you. You've got an extremely dedicated fanbase, hon.

We couldn't be mad at you for the world.

Happy Thanksgiving!

i will always be waiting for your next update! :D

No need to be ashamed. We love you no matter HOW dysfunctional you are. Just kidding! ^_^ You rock, so just concentrate on learning some Japanese! What we do if you got lost in Japan and never came back just because you didn't know how to ask for directions???

Posted by: Mari | Nov 25, 2005 7:12 AM

I'm glad you're alright, Hans. I was worried something awful happened. Besides, going at your own pace is probably better in the end, cause then the pages will turn out how you want. I know I'll be sticking around to read more, whenever the pages come out. ^___^

you can do it hans!!!

You're alive and going to study abroad in Japan! I'm jealous. Please keep a running sketchbook while you are there. I repeat what everyone else has already written. Yadda Yadda Yadda....Happy Thanksgiving! Gobble, Gobble!

Happy belated Thanksgiving and I'm glad to hear that you haven't stopped the comic. The people who leave because of your break aren't important enough for you to worry about! Everyone has been bogged down with school work before so they understand. Good luck with school and all!

Posted by: dragonspoem | Nov 25, 2005 2:28 PM

I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving!

I can definitely relate on the school thing... I've got finals in about a week, and everything here has just been so hectic! It's good that your okay enough to post again, though :p

I'm definitely in agreeance that it doesn't matter whether or not you update with new pages... just let us know how you're doing so we don't start wondering what's wrong (and some of us have overactive imaginations).

Much love, and try not to go insane! :p

What's up with all these warm fuzzies? Hans, you're a lazy asshole! What's up with all these warm fuzzies? Hans, you're a lazy asshole!

No worries Hans. I'm in grad school so I know what you're going through. My free time and social life will not exist for these last two weeks of the semester.

You're alive! I wondered where it was you disappeared to. Hope you do well in school-- as a student, I can sympathize. Looking forward to your next comic, don't rush yourself.

Wow another great web comic...keep up the good work Hans and can't wait until the next update ^_^

Posted by: Lucy | Nov 28, 2005 4:48 AM

That's great! I was afraid I would lose another of my favorite webcomics to the dreaded hiatus. Working at your own pace is best--and DoD is worth waiting for ^_^

Posted by: Senna | Nov 28, 2005 1:12 PM

YAY! me like comic......ya ya yumie....glad glad ^_^

Posted by: Varuna | Nov 29, 2005 10:51 AM

This comic is worth waiting for! You're doing such a great job- even your sketches are great XD Good luck in Japan

Posted by: Alex | Nov 29, 2005 1:45 PM

I thought you'd gotten run over by a truck or something! Dang, man, don't scare us like that.

But I'm in agreement with everyone else; don't feel rushed or hurried. We all enjoy DoD very much, and we don't mind waiting. The artwork's gorgeous enough to look over more than once, anyway.

Hans Tseng! 'Tis good to know that you art alive and hast been well! I have been attempting to convince someone to buy for me one of your pictures as a present of sorts and perhaps I shall ask someone to enable me to somehow donate and otherwise support you and whatnot. I have started reading Directions of Destiny rather recently(two months ago or a bit more), but I've found myself absolutely loving the comic and hoping you wilt update and wanting to help you any way I can. I just read predirection today, actually, so I've had some reading material to keep me occupied whilst you art hiatusing (which isn't a bad thing! I do it frequently in my writing!). I don't mind waiting at all, at all, really! Just to have read this much in itself is a blessing! And I've got many personal opinions now both about Predirection and the current Comic and maybe one day when you art less busy I shalt share them with you. 'Twould be a marvel indeed, were you willing to hear what I have to say.

Much love and the such,
Penny

Yo Hans.

In regards to you being apologetic to your fans, its admirable, but dont become like Piro of megatokyo in that regard. If you are a fan of a comic, yeah its nice to know the author gives a damn, but we kind of assume that anyway. There's much more interesting things you can put in news besides how sorry you are you didn't get one out this week. One thing I do have to give Piro credit for is his "dead piro days", where we are sated with crappy humerous omake-like drawings largely irrelevant to the comic. It sounds harsh I guess but from my perspective, I want a new comic, or no change, excuses only exacerbate things. Less keystrokes, more pencil strokes! ;0P. Good luck getting into Waseda, and I'll see you when I get back from this crazy archipelago.
