No update yet

There was a black-out for over two days this past weekend that completely messed with my groove, so I've hardly got anything finished. x_x Come back on Sunday for the update! I'm sorry D:

EDIT SUNDAY: Aaunggghh no update yet because I really really gotta finish these pre-order sketches and ship out all the books and stuff before I leave for Otakon since I'm going to Taiwan for a month right after that. D;

Oh, so even when blackouts don't occur to me specifically, they still manage to ruin my day?!

Damn them! Damn them I say!

Nooo! I've waited all week for an update and now this!? Why!? WHY!?!?

Posted by: Naomi | Jul 27, 2006 3:42 AM

Calm down.. if you waited all week, you can manage to wait another three days, right?^_^

Posted by: Emina | Jul 27, 2006 5:09 AM

Ooh...damn. :( -was also waiting the whole week- Oh well, its okay. That storm must've been really bad! o.O; Anyway, looking forward to Saturday. :)

Man. Blackouts suck. We've had vicious weather here, but no loss of power. But then, we live a few streets down from the... power... thingies... that look cool. Yeah.

Oh man! Blackouts ruin everything!! They ruin TV time, cleaning time, shower time, and now, my DoD time. Damn.

Posted by: Jeesiang | Jul 27, 2006 8:19 AM

I last I had a real blackout whas in 2000/2001 during New Years Eve and New Years Day. It sucked so much. But it was because of a ice storm. Everything was frozen! A tree in outr backyard actually bent all the way over. It was touching the ground too.

Too bad though. I'll just wait until Sunday~

Posted by: Christian | Jul 27, 2006 8:25 AM

It's OK!
Don't worry!
Just keep in mind that in a parallel universe, DoD DID update today, but then before anyone could see it, the internet imploded and mankind entered into a new Dark Age.

So, this alternative isn't really bad at all!
^_^ heehee

Well at least you're safe. I hate blackouts!! I wonder....can technology invent a battery powered house? >.>

Posted by: Snowbird | Jul 27, 2006 11:18 AM

whoa .. o_O is it just me or there been a lotta black outs lately? >_kinda like battery powered?

Posted by: Steph | Jul 27, 2006 12:03 PM

You could always just use a generator whenever the power goes off. I get a blackout several times during hurricane season. It gets me out of school but then I have to deal with boredom and having no air conditioning in 90 degree weather. Is this the same blackout that caused Myspace to go down and 93 million people to be really pissed off? I couldn't hear the end of it with my sister complaining every second.

Well, I would suppose that there would be no sunlight during a thunderstorm. ^^;

Posted by: Snowbird | Jul 27, 2006 7:07 PM

good point [and 90F ain' too bad. 's the 100s that bug me] but solar panels have little batteries that they store stuff in.. I 'unno how big they'd be for a house, but we got an electric fence for the pasture that runs on solar. It backs up power into a battery for cloudy days and night time.

-- on subject : wow, can't wait for the next update!!

Ahhh, poor Hans! Man, that really sucks, getting a black out like that. But don't be disheartened :)! Just take your time and we'll still be waiting for you when you get back into your groove :D Ahhh, poor Hans! Man, that really sucks, getting a black out like that. But don't be disheartened :)! If it's during a thunderstorm why not use the thunder for power? There's nothing like killing yourself for electricity.

Posted by: Hanh | Jul 28, 2006 2:12 PM

Well...I guess I forgive you. This time. ^_^

Posted by: Pauline | Jul 30, 2006 8:17 AM

Gah! You make me sad. But I'll be lenient...because after all I'm wholly dependant on you for the DoD goodness.

Posted by: Saa-san | Jul 30, 2006 9:20 AM

No worries. We can all wait and blackouts..well they are common where I live so I undestand.

Knives can cut tons of things like paper, styrofoam, string, people's eyes. The list is endless.

I guess I came a bit early for the update. I'll check again later.

Posted by: Hanh | Jul 30, 2006 12:36 PM

Oh wait I just read the update nevermind.

Posted by: Hanh | Jul 30, 2006 12:40 PM

I guess that's a good trade. I'll accept!

Posted by: Jeesiang | Jul 30, 2006 6:01 PM

I think we can forgive you ;) After all, you are working on sending the books out so it is a good excuse.

Posted by: Fenris | Jul 30, 2006 6:35 PM

TAIWAN? O.O That's where I am right now! x3

Posted by: Esther | Jul 31, 2006 6:16 AM

Awww...well, have fun on your trip to Taiwan. I hope that you'll get everything done soon!

Posted by: Xeronia | Jul 31, 2006 7:35 AM

DOD is ranked #4 on TWC for top drama comics. Just wanted to say that.

Posted by: Hanh | Jul 31, 2006 8:55 AM

Oh whoops I meant Buzzcomics.

Posted by: Hanh | Jul 31, 2006 8:56 AM

DoD is also #9 in top fantasy comics and #8 for top manga comics. Yeah I'm pretty bored as you can see.

Posted by: Hanh | Jul 31, 2006 9:53 AM

i was wondering, how do you manage to "publicize" your comic? How do you think it ended up being so popular?

Posted by: amani-mani | Jul 31, 2006 9:30 PM

Well, obviously it had to be good first. Then you enlist it on Onlinecomics and talk to other webcomic artists, get affiliated, etc. Get a good layout, interesting characters and plot and people will like it and tell other people. I'm guessing that's how it went. It takes a while of course, though. (if you look at the earlier update entries from a couple years ago, there are like 0 comments on most of them)

hi!

Amami-mani, as Esther mentioned, I enlisted this site on Onlinecomics.net, and more recently I put it onto voting sites such as Topwebcomics and Buzzcomix. I also have a gallery on deviantArt which serves as a mirror for my Directions of Destiny art, so people who watch me on there usually come to read the comic as well. In addition, I've attended Anime Expo in the artist alley for the past two years selling my book to people unfamiliar with the comic, and I also plan on going to Otakon this week to do more of the same.

For the most part, however, I rely on word-of-mouth to spread my comic. I'd rather not actively promote the comic myself because I want my readers to like it enough to want to tell their friends about it, so the best thing I can do is try to make this story as good as it can be. :>

(And Esther, the reason most of the updates from earlier have no comments is moreso because I hadn't set up the comments system yet, or I hadn't imported the comments from the old comment system. ;D)
